The Kururi potash mine is located in the Danakile Depression in southern Eritrea, about 350 kilometers from the capital Asmara. This mining area is one of the largest potassium salt mineralization sites in the world. The total reserves of potassium salt ore are approximately 1.113 billion tons, and the proven reserves are about 303 million tons. The average grade of potassium oxide is 11%. The main minerals include potassium salt magnesium sulfate, potassium salt and carnallite. The first phase of the project plans to build a production line with an annual output of 472,000 tons of high-purity potassium sulfate (SOP), which meets the environmental protection and social responsibility standards for international project financing and has been included in the list of practical cooperation projects of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. Sichuan Road & Bridge Corporation's Shu Dao New Materials Technology Group has acquired 50% of the equity of this mine and plans to invest approximately 950 million US dollars to support the supply guarantee of potassium fertilizer in China and the strategic layout of agricultural resources.
